This game combines deep Action RPG buildcrafting with roguelite elements, allowing players to shape and customize an infinite skill tree. You can hunt for powerful loot, craft and upgrade weapons to legendary levels, and battle hordes of enemies and challenging bosses in ever-changing dark worlds.

Striving for Light offers plenty to explore. With an infinite skill tree, extensive weapon upgrades, and nearly limitless combinations of skills, there's something for everyone.

The gameplay aligns with typical roguelite mechanics. You start by selecting one of eight characters and then crawl through dungeons, fight bosses, and gather loot. While the story is present, I found it somewhat challenging to follow during my playthrough. The infinite skill tree ensures that there are endless options for building your character, making it impossible for two characters to be the same. 

When combined with the endgame skill tree, the possibilities for crafting your ideal character are limitless. There is also a hardcore mode, where losing means the permanent loss of your character, as well as a cooperative mode for teaming up with friends to conquer dungeons. The game features leaderboards that allow you to compare your performance with players worldwide, with each leaderboard representing a specific game mode. There are always goals to strive for, whether it’s reaching the top of the leaderboard or becoming the most powerful character in the game. The replayability is high, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a game that satisfies the ARPG craving with an engaging, endless loop.

The art style is well-executed. Every creature, character, and boss possesses a unique hand-drawn design, reflecting the passion behind the artwork. The soundtrack enhances the overall experience, immersing players in the world and evoking a sense of adventure as you navigate through the dungeons.

In summary, Striving for Light delivers on its promise of being an ARPG with boundless possibilities. It stands out in the relatively sparse world of roguelite ARPGs, successfully meeting player needs. Although it lacks a traditional campaign, a deeper story can be uncovered with some effort.
