8 Years, 190 Episodes, One Adventure โ The GZ Chop Shop Story

Where It Started |
GZ Chop Shop launched on July 18, 2019 — one host, one microphone, and a very specific point of view about what a gaming podcast should actually sound like. Not a recap show. Not a review show. A show built around the industry behind the games — the business decisions, the monetization controversies, the platform wars, and the culture that ties it all together. Gregory, founder of Gamma GameZ Media, wanted to build a show that treated gaming like the multi-billion dollar industry it actually is, and talked to the people who worked inside it. That's still the mission. Eight years later, nothing has changed except the reach. |
What This Gaming Podcast Actually Covers |
Every week, GZ Chop Shop breaks down the stories that move the industry — Xbox strategy and Game Pass economics, PlayStation and Nintendo platform moves, publisher acquisitions, live-service monetization controversies, and the developer accountability conversations the industry would rather you didn't have. Co-hosts Ty and Uly join Greg each week to keep things honest, punchy, and occasionally chaotic. There's a Game of the Week segment, a weekly gaming newsletter (GZ Press Play, now in its second year on beehiiv), and an audience that shows up every single Thursday because they trust the takes — even when the takes are uncomfortable. |
The Guests That Made It Real |
Over 241 episodes, GZ Chop Shop has brought in voices from across the industry — Ubisoft veterans revealing what AAA game development actually looks like from the inside, a Baldur's Gate 3 voice actor breaking down what it means to work on a Game of the Year title, the vocalist behind Metal Gear Solid's iconic soundtrack, and an indie esports founder who built a competitive team from the ground up. The rule was always the same: nobody shows up to promote. They show up to have a real conversation. That reputation is the thing we're most proud of. |
|
By the Numbers |
Eight years in, GZ Chop Shop has published 241+ episodes without a single hiatus. The GZ Press Play Gaming Newsletter runs a 28% open rate — against a 20-22% industry average. Lifetime views across the YouTube channel have crossed 511K. The show reaches 1,170 YouTube subscribers and 342 active newsletter subscribers — an audience that actually reads, watches, and shows up every week. These aren't vanity numbers. They're the product of eight years of consistency, and the reason partners like G FUEL and Razer trust us with their audience. |
What Year 9 Looks Like |
The 8th Anniversary episode drops July 18, 2026 — the actual anniversary date. Greg, Ty, and Uly sit down for the kind of conversation that only makes sense after eight years: what the show has been, what it's becoming, and what the next chapter of Gamma GameZ Media looks like. There's a Patreon milestone on the horizon — 25 patrons unlocks a monthly bonus episode — and a full content expansion in the works. Year 9 is going to be bigger. Subscribe so you don't miss the first episode of it. |

Eight years is a long time to do anything. It's an even longer time to do it without missing a week. Thank you for being part of it — from the very first episode to wherever year nine takes us. Until next time, GZ fans! |
